MacBook Pro/Air Screen Calibration Service
Fix Sleep/Wake Issues After Screen Replacement

The LAS (Ling Angle Sensor) — often referred to as the Hall Sensor — is a critical component in MacBooks that detects the position of the lid (open or closed). After a screen replacement, especially if the replacement screen is not properly paired with the MacBook's logic board, issues can arise if the LAS is not calibrated.

What the LAS does

  • It tells the MacBook when the lid is closed, so it can enter sleep mode.

  • It tells the MacBook when the lid is opened, so it can wake up.

What happens if it’s not calibrated after screen replacement

  • MacBook won't wake when lid is opened
The system doesn't detect the lid position correctly, so it stays in sleep mode even when open.

  • MacBook won't sleep when lid is closed
Without the correct LAS signal, the MacBook may stay powered on with the lid shut, draining battery and potentially overheating.

  • Random behaviour

    • Mac may turn on randomly even with the lid closed.

    • Mac may go to sleep while in use with the lid open.
This happens because the logic board receives incorrect or unstable signals from the uncalibrated or mismatched LAS.

  • Reduced functionality
Features like clamshell mode (using the MacBook closed with an external display) and power nap may not work reliably.
